Milk Replacement Recipes for Puppies


Milk replacement comes in handy when you have orphaned puppies or when the mother runs out of milk, which often happens to first time canine mothers.  Even thought canine milk replacer recommended by your veterinarian is nutritionally complete, this might not always be an option.


Recipe 1:

  • 4 ounces of goat's or cow's milk.
  • 4 ounces of water.
  • 2 - 4 egg yolks
  • 1 teaspoon of vegetable oil
  • 2 crushed tums or similar calcium carbonate tablets.
Thoroughly mix all ingredients in a blender and heat it to approximately 100°F.  Let it cool before feeding it to puppies.  Do a heat test on your wrist to ensure it's not too hot.  Refrigerate unused formula up to one week.


Recipe 2:

  • Beef Liver
  • 10 oz can condensed, undiluted goat's milk/cow's milk
  • 1/3 cup of water
  • 2 Egg yolks
  • 1 tablespoon whole yogurt
  • 1 teaspoon of corn syrup
  • 1 dropper full of infant vitamins
Boil the liver in a cup of water.  Strain the boiled liquid from the liver and feed the liver to the mother.  Add the rest of the ingredients to the liver water and blend it until smooth.  You can freeze this formula in ice cube trays for up to six months or refrigerate for up to one week.


Recipe 3:

  • 12 oz of unsweetened, evaporated milk
  • 13 oz of boiling water
  • 1 jar beef baby food
  • 8 oz of unflavored yogurt
  • 2 cooked eggs
Place all ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.  Refrigerate and use within 3 days.


Recipe 4:

  • 10 oz of canned unsweetened evaporated milk (or whole goat's milk)
  • 3 oz sterilized water
  • 1 raw egg yolk
  • 1 cup plain whole yogurt
  • 1/2 teaspoon of corn syrup
Place all the ingredients in the blender and blend until smooth.  Heat the mixture to 100°F and let it cool before feeding.  Mixture can be refrigerated for up to one week.

Grain Free Beef and Potato Stew for Dogs


Ingredients:

  • 1 lbs ground beef
  • 1 large potato or sweet potato, diced
  • 1 medium carrot grated or diced
  • 1/2 cup frozen peas
  • 2 cups of water 
  • 1 tbsp brown rice flour

Method:

Saute the meat in a large pot until cooked.  Add the vegetables, two cups of water and bring to a boil.  Dissolve 1 tbsp of brown rice flour in 1/4 cup of tap water and mix into the ground beef to thicken the stew.  Reduce heat and simmer for 20 minutes or until all the vegetables are soft cooked.

Satin Ball Recipe for Dogs

"Satin Balls" is a complete diet for dogs, rich and high in calories, and should only be fed as a supplement or to encourage significant weight gain.

Recipe for Small Dogs:

  • 1 lbs Ground Beef (use 95% lean for a lower fat content)
  • 1 1/3 cup Total Cereal (without raisins)
  • 1 1/2 cup Oatmeal
  • 1 Egg
  • 6 tbsp Wheat Germ
  • 1 packet Knox Unflavored Gelatin
  • 2 tbsp Vegetable Oil
  • 2 tbsp Unsulfured Molasses
  • Pinch of Salt

Method:

Mix all ingredients and roll them into medium sized meatballs. Serve raw or freeze preformed satin balls in weighted portions.


Original Recipe:

  • 10 lbs Ground Beef (use 95% lean for lower fat content)
  • 12 cups Total Cereal (without raisins)
  • 15 cups Oatmeal
  • 10 Eggs
  • 1 15oz jar of Wheat Germ
  • 10 packages Knox unflavored gelatin
  • 1 1/4 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 1 1/4 cup Unsulfured Molasses
  • 1 tsp Salt

Half Recipe:

  • 5 lbs Ground Beef (use 95% lean for lower fat content)
  • 6 cups Total Cereal (without raisins)
  • 8 cups Oatmeal
  • 5 Eggs
  • 1/2 a 15oz jar of Wheat Germ
  • 5 packages Knox unflavored gelatin
  • 5/8 cup Vegetable Oil
  • 5/8 cup Unsulfured Molasses
  • 1/2 tsp Salt

  • 1 lbs grated cheddar cheese
  • 4 cans drained tuna
  • 1 jar peanut butter
  • 2 cups molasses
  • 1 cup cream cheese
  • 1 box knox gelatin
  • 2 cups cooked pumpkin (not canned pumpkin)
  • 3 cups cottage cheese
  • 8 oz of dehydrated potato flakes (or plain instant mashed potato)

Method:

Mix all the ingredients together in a large bowl and roll them into medium sized meatballs.  Serve raw or freeze pre-formed satin balls in weighed portions.

Egg and Turkey Meatloaf


(Makes 12 Servings)

Ingredients:

  • 1 pound lean ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup chopped or shredded carrots
  • 1/2 cup peas
  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 2 eggs
  • 3 hard-boiled eggs

Method:

Preheat your oven to 350°F.  In a bowl, mix together all the ingredients.
Lightly grease a loaf pan with olive oil and add half the mixture to the pan.
Place the hard-boiled eggs along the center of the loaf and cover with the other half of the ground turkey mixture.
Bake for 45 minutes.
Cut the loaf in half-inch slices from a cooled loaf and serve!

Peanut Butter Biscuits


(Makes 5 Dozen)

Ingredients:

  • 1 cup Oatmeal
  • 2 1/4 cups Brown Rice Flour
  • 1 cup Water
  • 1/4 cup Peanut Butter
  • 1 tbsp Vegetable Oil

Method:

Preheat oven to 375°F.  In a large bowl combine the peanut butter, oil, and water.
Gradually add the flour and oatmeal.  Roll dough to 1/4 inch thickness and cut with a cookie cutter.
Place on an ungreased cookie sheet and bake for 35 minutes.
